The names of those absent at that time are sent to the Front Office. Absences are entered into the computer and parents of any student absent is notified via an text message to the parent's mobile phone. If your child arrives lates for class please write a note and have them hand it to the Front Office so their data can be updated.
Appointments with Teachers
Staff are aware of the importance of maintaining close contact with families. Important and useful information is often shared at the beginning and end of the school day. Please be mindful that staff need to be ready to teach at 9:00am as well as supervising children leaving school in the afternoon. Staff also have meeting commitments in the afternoons commencing at 3:15pm. We would greatly appreciate appointments being made for discussions, which require more than a few moments.
Autism: Learning Support Units Autism (LSU-A)
We have two Learning Support Units Autism (LSU-A) and they are located in the Griffin Building. LSU-As are small group programs located in primary and high schools for students who meet the ACT Student Disability criteria for Autism. Each autism unit is a small group setting and has approximately 6 students. Each unit has a teacher and a learning support assistant (LSA).
The autism unit students study a personalised learning program aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Students also have a designated mainstream class that they attend on a regular basis based on their individual requirements.
Enrolment in the Learning Support Units Autism are managed by the Education Directorate’s Disability Education Central Placement Panel.
