Duffy Lingo

Here you will find some important lingo and information about Duffy Primary School.

Blacktop

This is the main school quadrangle with basketballs hoops and a large, covered area. The blacktop can be accessed by walking past the kindergarten rooms and turning right down the little pathway between the buildings or accessed from the doors opposite the canteen.

Junior blacktop

The covered area beside the junior playground outside the Kindergarten and Year 1 classrooms and junior toilets.

Monday Morning WOW (What’s on Weekly)

This is a fortnightly assembly with announcements. Monday WOW is held on the blacktop ODD week Monday mornings when the bell rings at 9:00am. WOW usually runs for 10-15 minutes and is run by the year six leadership students. Merit awards and Principal awards are presented every fortnight. Parents are welcome to attend to listen to announcements and watch the presentation of awards.

Spirit Points

These are allocated to students by teachers for demonstrating our school values: Respectful, Responsible and Inclusivity. They’re tallied for each student and accrue throughout the year. When spirit points reach certain goals set out throughout the year, special rewards are given out to the students. This can include free uniform days or extra playtime.

Sporting Houses

Our three Duffy houses are named after Australian Olympic athletes.

Breakfast club

This is an opportunity for students to access breakfast before school begins. Breakfast club runs from 8:30 – 8:55am from the school canteen. Breakfast club serves toast with either Vegemite, butter or jam. There may also be fruit available.

Canteen

Lunch orders are available on Thursdays and Fridays only. Lunch orders are prepaid and can be made online at www.flexischools.com.au or using the Flexischools app.

Ga-Ga-Go

In 202, our P&C generously played for a new Ga-Ga-Go pitt. Ga-Ga-Go is a fun, fast-paced game that encourages students to be active while developing their agility, coordination and teamwork. Played in a safe, enclosed arena with a soft ball, it is a popular playground activity that promotes participation, quick thinking and good sportsmanship. It has quickly become a favourite among students of all ages!
