Early Years Learning Framework

Curriculum

The EYLF describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming:

Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel they belong because of the relationships they have with their family, community, culture and place.

Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time in life and children need time to just 'be' - time to play, try new things and have fun.

Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they become.

At Duffy Primary School, we use the Early Years Learning Framework in partnership with families to develop learning programs responsive to children's ideas, interests, strengths and abilities and recognise that children learn through their play.

Further information for families about the EYLF is available through the Australian Government Department of Education website: Early Years Strategy - Department of Education, Australian Government

Learning Frameworks guide early childhood teachers and educators in the design, delivery and evaluation of quality learning and development. The Early Years Learning Frame is Australia's Nationally approved framework or curriculum for children from birth to five years old.

Belonging, Being & Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework is a guide to supporting and nurturing children’s learning from birth to 5 years, including the transition to school.

The frameworks were developed by the Australian Government in consultation with:
