Assessment and ReportingAssessment at Duffy Primary is a continuous process. Three-way interviews are held at the end of Term 2 with the student, parents and teacher. Late in Term 3 students, parents and teachers share in Learning Journeys. An A-E and Social Report are provided to parents at the end of Term 2 and Term 4. Teachers will contact parents to arrange an interview if concern exists at any other time of year. Parents are encouraged to do the same. The value of open communication between parents and teachers in sharing information cannot be stressed to highly. Term One School Information EveningAn information evening will be presented by all staff to the school community early in Term 1. We encourage all families to come and meet all teaching staff and learn about whole school programs, policies and procedures; and how students, teachers and families can work productively together to make Duffy Primary a great learning environment. Getting to Know Your ChildAt the start of each year and when new enrolments arrive, parents are asked to fill in a 'Getting to Know Your Child' sheet to assist the teacher in gathering relevant information about your child's strengths and areas for development. Meet the Teacher'Meet the Teacher' interviews are short informal sessions which provide you with the opportunity to share information regarding your child with their teacher. This information assists the teacher to meet the individual needs of all class members. PIPS (Performance Indicators in Schools)Kindergarten children compel PIPS testing early in Term 1 and again early in Term 4. While formal results come to the school later, working with the children on the testing provides the kindergarten teacher with valuable information on the literacy and numeracy skills the children have brought to primary school. NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy)NAPLAN testing is done across Australia in May of each year for children in years 3, 5, 7, and 9. Parents receive a report on their child's performance and the school uses data to inform areas of strength and areas for development. |
