Special Programs

Duffy Primary school offers a number of special programs for students.

Dare to Lead

Our School is a member of the "Dare to Lead" group of schools. Dare to Lead schools are committed to improving outcomes for indigenous students and raising indigenous cultural awareness for all students.

Rotary Mentor Program

The school is fortunate to have a number of Rotarians who visit on a weekly basis to act as mentors to a small number of individual students. This program is coordinated by the Special Needs Team.

Music Lessons

A specialist violin and piano teacher provides lessons for students during class times.

Active Australia or Aussie Sports Leaders

Senior students are trained to teach younger students sports skills and cooperative games.

Peer Mediators

Senior students are trained as peer mediators who assist the younger students on the playground to resolve problems using relational questioning.

School Parliament

The school parliament gives students an avenue for participation in governance and decision making. Ministers are appointed to a range of portfolios and to each class in the school. Issues are raised by students at classroom level and conveyed through their minister to the parliament. The school parliament has links to the school's Civics and Citizen Program.
